Angela Jackson MCSP AACP
Angela has been involved in treating people in sports at all levels both in the UK and Canada. She has worked with the England Volleyball team, Cheshire Hockey and offers a physiotherapy service to all the Cheshire Cricket teams.
Her major interest is now in prevention of injuries in particular in children as they grow, and she launched our popular Posturefit screening programme 10 years ago to identify how to prevent injuries and enhance performance.
Angela has used the screening programme with the England cricket team and Cheshire Cricket teams, elite swimmers, county tennis players, England athletes and has a specific interest in golf performance and injury prevention working with many golf professionals and amateurs.
Jean Thistleton MCSP MSOM AACP
Jean has extensive musculoskeletal and sports injury experience gathered through both post-graduate training and clinical practice. She spent over 10 years at a leading local private hospital running the physiotherapy department and set up specialised sports injury and back clinics, working closely with many specialist consultants in the area.
She then went on to join the Physiofit team 10 years ago offering specialist services of headache and migraine management, acupuncture for additional management of pain and Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo.
Jean herself plays Senior County tennis for Cheshire, is a British Ski Club gold standard skier, and horse rides to an advanced level, giving her a thorough understanding of the requirements of various sports.
Sandy Norgrove MCSP MSOM
Sandy Norgrove has extensive post-graduate education and experience in the specialist Physiotherapy fields of Manual Therapy and Sports Rehabilitation. After many years working in the NHS, Sandy worked as a physiotherapist to a rugby club as well as holding a senior position at a local leading Private Hospital.
As an adjunct to her skills, Sandy is also qualified to administer acupuncture for pain relief and has worked in an extended scope practitioner role giving therapeutic joint and soft tissue injections. She is now one of our leading golf physiotherapists and has been instrumental in setting up our Physiofit for Golf programme.
More recently Sandy has been attending further manual training from tutors from around the globe in fascial release techniques which she has found to be highly effective.
Claire Davidson BSc Hons MCSP
Claire gained extensive experience in the NHS as a Specialist Physiotherapist. She was an Extended Scope Practitioner working with Orthopaedic Consultants in clinics where she has had sole responsibility for ongoing medical management.
Claire has extensive experience in joint and soft tissue injections with diplomas in Orthopaedic Medicine and Injection Therapy. Her additional skills include acupuncture for pain relief; muscle balance techniques for postural and sports injury problems and treating all musculoskeletal disorders.
Claire was a full international swimmer and now uses that experience to screen the region top swimmers identifying risk areas and developing performance. She also achieved county levels for tennis and hockey, which she continues to play at Cheshire League level.
Tanya Mackenzie BSc (Hons) MCSP
Tanya has been in physiotherapy practice in South Africa for many years, mainly focusing on orthopaedic and sports injuries. She has completed a post graduate certificate in orhopaedic manipulative therapy and is keen on the correction of ergonomics to prevent repetitive strain injuries. She is currently studying for a Masters at Salford University.
She is herself a keen sports woman, and has a special interest in sports specific screening and re-education of the athlete.
Although experienced in all areas of orthopaedic physiotherapy, special interest areas are: the cervical headache; spinal; the shoulder complex and temperomandiblar (jaw) areas. She practices dry needling for the release of deep soft tissue and muscular skeletal conditions.
Helen Abbott BSc(Hons) MCSP AACP
Helen graduated from the University of Manchester with a BSc Honours degree in physiotherapy in 2003 and soon developed an interest in musculoskeletal and sports injuries.
She currently combines working at the Physiofit clinic with a role as Specialist Physiotherapist in musculoskeletal outpatients at Manchester Royal Infirmary. She has extensive postgraduate training, and has a Diploma in Orthopaedic medicine; is qualified to practise acupuncture for pain relief and has studied Pilates with the Australian Physiotherapy Pilates Institute (APPI).
Helen has an interest in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of musculoskeletal disorders, including sports injuries and back and neck pain, utilizing a variety of treatment techniques. She is also soon to commence studying for a MSc in Manual Therapy.
Karen Perry MCSP ACPIN
Karen is a specialist in Neuro-Rehabilitation. she has many years experience in the NHS specialising in neurology. Karen has successfully completed post-graduate courses in all aspects of neurology and is an advanced Bobath practitioner.
The main aim of neuro-rehabilitation is the re-education of normal movement with a view to achieving the maximum functional independence possible.
Her particular interest is the therapeutic management of Multiple Sclerosis and is on the national TIMS (Therapists in M.S.) committee which promotes the continued education and research for other therapists in the management of this condition.
Karen treats conditions such as Cerebro-vascular disease, Transient Ischaemic Attack, Parkinsons Disease, Neuropathies and Head Injury. In addition she practices the Feldenkrais Method which uses movement as a tool of communication with the nervous system. It increases awareness, better functioning and self perception to improve posture, flexibility, co-ordination and balance.
Maggie Brown MCSP CPWH ACPPC Women’s Health Specialist
Since completing the Women’s Health post graduate course in 1991 at the University of East Anglia , Maggie worked as lead phsio for 10 years at a local NHS hospital before moving to the private sector.
Incontinence is a very common problem and forms a major part of Maggie’s work. She has a wealth of experience in treating both stress and urge urinary incontinence in both men and women of all ages. Faecal incontinence is also treated.
Research shows that back and pelvic girdle pain in pregnancy responds best to acupuncture and Maggie has found this to be extremely effective. Acupuncture is also used to treat heavy, painful periods, menopausal symptoms such as hot flushes and fertility problems such as polycystic ovarian syndrome. This is also backed up by recent research.
Pelvic pain as a result of recent surgery i.e. hysterectomy, caesarian section or endometriosis and muscle imbalance can be relieved by soft tissue massage, acupuncture and exercises.
Back and pelvic girdle pain in pregnant and new mums can be helped by gently manipulation, exercise, support and occasionally acupuncture.
Treatment is tailored to the individual patient and a discreet and personal service is offered.
Jilly Burrows BSc(Nons) Podiatry, SRCh, MChs Podiatrist and Chiropodist
Since gaining a first class honours degree from Salford University, Jilly has specialised in the biomechanics aspect of patient care.
She has investigated Ph.D. funding from several sources to look into the use of insoles for anterior knee pain. The knowledge and experience from this research has enabled her to provide a specialist foot health service for conditions that may affect the individual’s lower limbs and feet. Her aim is to prevent or treat foot problems, to reduce pain, maintain mobility and provide advice to enable patients to make informed decisions in managing their own foot health.
Jilly provides normal chiropody care as well as podiatry assessments for the provision of orthotic insoles for improvement in motion and pain. She has additional experience in the skiing industry both for recreational and professional skiers.
Janette Delap IIHHT VTCT, Holistic Therapist
Janette is a qualified Holistic Therapist with experience in Palliative Care, gained within a Hospice environment.
All treatments given by Janette are tailored to the specific needs of the individual and include Swedish Body Massage, Aromatherapy, Indian Head Massage and reflexology as well as Reiki, Touch Therapy and Meditation and Visualisation.
Janette uses only the purest of oils extracted from nature, and specialises in the techniques required to promote healing within the mind, body and spirit.

Angela Bailey BA (Hons), DipRSA, DipION, MBANT

Angela Bailey is a graduate, who has trained as a nutritional therapist with the internationally-recognised Institute of Optimum Nutrition (ION), founded by Patrick Holford, in London.
She has a special interest in women’s hormonal health, osteoporosis, thyroid problems, digestive complaints and sports nutrition.
For a number of years, she has also been involved in training nutritionists and has recently been appointed as an external examiner for the ION foundation degree course in Nutritional Therapy.
